How does CutJam make money?
The customer pays our fee on top, not out of your earnings. On direct projects it's a small Stripe processing fee only. On jams and clipping campaigns we add a 10% platform fee to the customer's total. Retainers are the one exception: the $5,000/month subscription includes a 20% fee built into the price, so you take home 80% ($4,000). Direct, jam, and clipping payouts are always 100% of the advertised amount.
What's the fee on jams and clipping?
CutJam adds a 10% platform fee on top of the prize pool (jams) or view budget (clipping). The customer pays prize + 10%; the winner or clipper receives 100% of the advertised amount. The fee is never deducted from what you earn.
How do I get projects?
When a client picks a style that matches your expertise, we match you automatically. No pitching, no competing. You just accept or pass.
Can I set my own rates?
Pricing is set per style and duration on the platform. As we grow, we'll work with editors to make sure rates reflect the quality of work.
What if a client isn't happy?
Each project includes up to 2 revision rounds. Your revision SLA scales with the customer's tier (roughly 24h on Standard, 16h on Express, 8h on Rush) so the full project lands by the tier deadline. After 2 rounds, if it can't be resolved, our team steps in. Payment is protected by escrow throughout.
How do monthly retainers work?
You can opt in from your editor profile. Brands subscribe at $5,000/month, a budget reserved with you and priced per project from standard tier rates. You take home $4,000/month. Retainers are the one exception to our "customer pays the fee on top" rule: the 20% platform fee is built into the subscription price, so you receive 80%. Predictable income, one trusted client.
